(Dinner • Cocktails • Hors d’oeuvres • Silent auction)
We need your help in supporting an award-winning front line Nashville organization that identifies and helps people who already have HIV/AIDS or are in imminent danger of getting the disease.
Our organization, Street Works, started from the trunk of my car in 1997 and has since grown to a 24/7 citywide operation that reaches 50,000 people through our three inner city offices. Many of the people we deal with are either substance abusers or sex industry workers who are unaware of the risk they pose to themselves and citizens throughout Nashville.
I know first-hand about this threat because I am a former substance abuser who contracted HIV. I have since resolved to educate as many disadvantaged men, women and children as possible about the dangers of the disease.
Street Works has grown during its more than 15-year history to become a respected 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization which has gained support from governmental, civic and business leaders. In 2005, Street Works was chosen from more than 600 nominees to receive the nation’s most prestigious community health leadership award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Despite the effectiveness of our work, the presence of HIV/AIDS continues to rise. That is why we need your help so that we can expand staff, continue our outreach and heighten our effectiveness. We are a bare-bones organization that operates from the heart of Nashville public housing, so every dollar is stretched to maximize impact.
The event will be held at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel located at 2025 Rosa L Parks Boulevard. Tickets are $50 per person and $450 per table (8 seats). A silent auction will also be held during the Gala. If you are unable to attend the banquet, please consider making a tax deductible gift donation . Silent auction donations also are very welcome.
